On My Bookshelf: Feb. 6

Real life intervenes and it seems this On My Bookshelf post will not always happen every single week.  Here are the things I have finished reading lately:calling of emily evansThe Calling of Emily Evans by Janette Oke – I enjoy historical fiction and this one was great.  Canadian single woman Emily Evans feels called to full time Christian service.  She is assigned to a small town with no church and struggles to set up a home, church, and friendships with her new neighbors.  This was a free Kindle book.sense and sensibilitySense and Sensibility by Jane Austen – Ahh, who doesn’t love Jane Austen?  I’m sure there are some people who would rather read other authors, but I am not one of them!  I have been wandering through Sense and Sensibility all month and finished it up finally.  I love seeing the difference between the Dashwood sisters in personality, the relationships they form with others (including the obnoxious Miss Lucy Steele), and life in a time I can’t imagine.  While Pride and Prejudice is still my favorite Austen novel Sense and Sensibility comes a close second.  This was a free Kindle book.inventors secretThe Inventor's Secret by Chad Morris – Okay, all I can really say about this one today is that it’s fantastic!  I have an official review coming out next week and then you have to wait patiently for the book to be released in March.  It will be worth the wait.  This was an Advance Reader Copy sent to me by Shadow Mountain Publishing to review.for times of troubleFor Times of Trouble by Jeffrey R. Holland – Yeah, yeah, here is another one I have an official review coming for next week.  Today I’ll just say this book was a great read, even when I only had a few minutes at a time.  This is a hardback, sent to me by Deseret Book to review.

What have you read recently?

Thanks for some great reading ideas. I am currently reading: Rashi's Daughters book II Miriam. I read book one and fell in love with it. It has some content that was a little to descriptive for me in bedroom matters. These are Jewish Historical Fiction. I am also reading Help for the Harried Homeschooler. Also, some gluten free cookbooks.
